favorite bands from the past

There are so many amazing bands from the past the that I love like Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Journey, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Foreigner, and many more. Journey’s most popular song would probably be “Don’t Stop Believin” but they also the songs ” Any way you want it”, “Open Arms”, “Send her my love, “Faithfully” and a lot more. Bon Jovi’s songs most popular songs would be “Livin on a prayer”, “wanted dead or alive”, and “You give love a bad name”. Def Leppards are “Photograph”, “Nine Lives”. The Beatles were a really big hit with “Here comes the sun”, “I feel fine”, “Yellow Submarine”. Led Zeppelin led the 70’s with “Stairway to Heaven”, “Black Dog”, “Immigrant Song”, and “Whole Lotta Love.” Another favorite from past band is Foreigner with “Waiting for a girl like you”, “I want to know what love is”, and “Jukebox Hero.” Nobody could ever foget any of these amazing bands, and if they did then they don’t know what real music is.

ACDC!!!

ACDC is one of my all time favortie bands! I got the honor of going to their concert back on November 4th and it was amazing! Those guys still sound like they did like they did in the 80’s.  They were started by brothers Malcolm and Angus Young. Their first album, “High Voltage”, came out in 1975. Their second album came out in 1979 and it was called “Highway to Hell” but switched bassit from Mark Evans to Cliff Williams. Sadly the lead singer, Bon Scott died on February 19th, 1980 after consuming a very large amount of alchol. Brian Johnson, the current lead singer, replaced Bon Scott and recorded their best album yet, “Back in Black”. Their album “For those about to Rock” was their first album to hit number one in the United States but when Phil Rudd was fired and Simon Wrigt took over, the bands popularity declined. Phil Rudd returned to the band in 1994. ACDC made many other albums including “Ballbreaker”, “The Razors Edge”, and “Stiff Upper Lip”. Their most recent album is “Black Ice” and their album “Iron Man 2” is set to come out on April 10th of this year. They have sold over 20o million albums and over 71 million in the United States. “Back in Black” is their biggest selling album, selling 45 million copies worldwide. It is in second place for the top selling album of all time behind michael Jackson’s “thriller”.

Here is a list of the members and what they do:

    February 16, 2010 · Filed under Uncategorized

personally, 80’s music is the best music of all time. ACDC is one of my all time favorite bands along with Bon Jovi. Even though they had an interesting fashion style, it still would have been amazing to live during this time period with all the concerts and different bands. Here is vH1’s top 10 songs from the 80’s:

    1. Bon Jovi / “Livin’ on a Prayer” (1986)

    2. Def Leppard / “Pour Some Sugar On Me” (1987)

    3. Duran Duran / “Hungry Like the Wolf” (1982)

    4. Michael Jackson / “Billie Jean” (1982)

    5. Prince / “When Doves Cry” (1984)

    6. Hall & Oates / “I Can’t Go For That (No Can Do)” (1981)

    7. Guns N’ Roses / Sweet Child O’ Mine (1987)

    8. Madonna / “Like a Virgin” (1984)

    updated top 10’s

    February 16, 2010 · Filed under top 10's · Tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Since last time i posted top 10 songs of the day/week, there have been some changes. obviously number one is kesha’s “Tik Tok” (which in my opinion is getting very old) but the number two spot goes to the black eyed peas with “Imma Be”. And third place goes Lady Antebellum’s “Need You Now”. Here are the rest of the songs that Billboard put on their list:

    4. “Bed Rock” – young money featuring Lloyd

    5. “Bad Romance” – Lady GaGa

    6. “Sexy Chick” – David Guetta featuring Akon

    7. “Hey, Soul Sister” – Train

    8. “How Low” – Ludacris

    9. “I Gotta Feeling” – The Black Eyed Peas

    10. “Replay”- Iyaz

I’m kind of surprised to see Lady Gaga down to the number 5 spot while kesha stays at number one. In my opinion, kesha is getting old because it gets played over and over and over again on the radio. I also think Train should be higher up on the charts because I like the song better then the ones above it.

Looking back on these songs is weird because music has changed so much since 2005. Its fun listening to music that we listened to that long ago because for some it brings back memories. Some people never change the music they listen to. I sometimes listen to my old CD’s from the 90’s because it reminds me of being a little kid. For example, my NSYNC cd or britney spears’ first cd. Music will continue to change and I cant wait to see what comes next.

    The Grammys

    February 2, 2010 · Filed under Awards, Music Events · Tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Considered musics biggest night, the Grammys had over 25.8 million viewers. There were lots of artists who took home more then one grammy awards but if it were a contest  Beyoncé would have won. She took home six grammys that included Song Of The Year, Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, Best Female R&B Vocal Performance, Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance, Best R&B Song, and Best Contemporary R&B Album. Taylor Swift came in second with four grammys winning Album Of The Year for “Fearless”. She is the youngest artist to accept this award. The Black Eyed Peas and Kings of Leon picked up three grammy awards each. Unfortunatly, Lady GaGa only picked up two grammys for the night but opened the show wearing a green-sequined bodysuit with angel wings singing “Poker Face”. And accepting Michael Jacksons award for Lifetime Achievement were his children Prince and Paris. They both made speeches in honor of their father that touched many hearts in the crowd.

And for country, Lady Antebellum won and award for Best Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocals and sang   “Need You Now”. And the Best New Artist winners The Zac Brown band, sang “America The Beatuiful” with Leon Russell at the piano. They also performed their number one song “Chicken Fried”.

Taylor Swift and the famous Stevie Nicks sang Fleetwood Mac’s “Rhiannon” along with Taylor Swift’s “You Belong With Me”. Celine Dion, Usher, Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson, and Smokey Robinson performed “Earth Song” in 3D for the tribute to Michael Jackson.
